Our History

First opening in 2001 as a private golf and athletic club, the owner Donald Kenney, a central Ohio developer of commercial, residential and hotel properties wanted an athletic club with a golf course that was known for offering a full family experience in an impeccably clean environment.

The Barry Serafin designed 18 hole championship course was an immediate success, buoyed by the large residential development surrounding it. The golfing membership is known as having the best amateur golfers in the central Ohio area, in fact, Scioto Reserve members are continually winning more amateur golf events among any other club in the area.

The club enjoyed instant success with so many neighborhood families joining the club for fun, rest, fitness and leisure. While the golf course remained a sought after amenity, drawing members from as far away as Sunbury, Marysville and Hilliard the athletic club was the cornerstone for year around activity.

Over the next few years other big box athletic clubs entered the market and the club began a slow decline in athletic memberships. In 2009 the decision to close the athletic club was made and the space was transformed into what many people say is the best wedding and special event venue in central Ohio and beyond.

The club is now a great success, again due to the wonderful families through the 1400 home neighborhood. The golf is strong, the pools are well maintained and the environment is as fun as ever. Members can be found dining throughout the summer months on the patio overlooking the 18th green and wedding garden, a favorite hangout for so many families. The pools now have an open air bistro for dining and the adult only pool has the only adult only pool with a swim up bar (the shark-tank) of any local club. What makes Scioto Reserve Country Club so special is its members. These are families who love to enjoy life, golfing swimming and dining at the club. You are sure to hear lots of laughter anytime you visit the club.
